The MAPS Holiday Buying Guide

The following includes some affiliate links. By purchasing any of the items below, we may earn a small commission, however, all products are those we use, love, and feel comfortable recommending to you!

Whether you’re gifting in the traditional way or not this year, I hope that you’re taking the time to revel in the simple beauty of the season.

I suspect you’re in the midst of your holiday shopping, so I thought it was a good time to share with you some ideas on gifts you can give to yourself (although they’ll also make great gifts for that tough-to-buy-for special person!).

These are things that we think are beautiful, help encourage a practice, and embody humanness – and isn’t the affirmation of our humanity what this sacred season is all about?

The three things I like to keep in mind when giving a gift and which are equally important when you are giving a gift to someone else or yourself are:

Make the receiver feel seen. It’s not about the money that you spend, or how luxe and glamorous it is, but giving something that’s personal or that they are in need of lets them know that you’ve been listening (including listening to yourself!).

Be source-conscious. I love buying from small businesses and boutiques not just because they often have beautiful, unique items, but in times like these, small businesses need our love more than ever. There are also lots of excellent eco products that make fantastic gifts! In fact, I’ve included some of our favorites below!

Encourages them to take care of themselves! I love finding ways for family and friends to give themselves a little TLC, and it need not come with a hefty tag. Ok, so here they are (you’ll also note that some of these links take you to our brand new MAPS boutique, which is in a soft-open phase — more on that soon!).

Gupta program: Looking for a limbic-system friendly present for that “stressed out” person in your life? This brain retraining program has inspiration drawn from many areas of coaching and therapy, including NLP, Meditation, Timeline Therapy, Breathwork, Parts therapy, Visualisation, Inner-Child work, and many more. We fit these tools under the banner of “Amygdala and Insula Retraining”, or AIR Techniques.

For the Wellness Afficianado

Living Libations Copper Tongue Scraper: Tongue scraping eliminates bad breath, prevents cavities, improves internal organ function, and aids digestion. Adding this practice to your daily oral care regimen is a simple, powerful way to improve your sense of taste, monitor your internal health, and remove periodontal plaque.

The tongue is one of the most neglected organs in the body. Brushing, flossing and even mouth wash are often not enough to remove harmful bacteria or build-up on the tongue. With a few simple scrapes, you can revitalize your tongue, teeth, and mouth, and protect the internal organs directly linked to tongue health.

Tongue scraping is an ancient Ayurvedic oral care remedy that rids the mouth of bacteria and build-up that contribute to poor oral ecology. It is a painless process to remove dead skin cells, food particles, fungus, and bacteria from the surface of the tongue.

Lelo Sila: Talk about good vibrations. Without ever touching the clitoris, this extra soft, body-safe silicone toy emits gentle sonic vibrations, to engage the entire erogenous area, without being…. ehrm… overzealous. Ladies, you know what I mean. It has 8 settings, and is safe for bath and shower playtime.

MAPS Tank: The key to finding balance in life doesn’t have to be difficult. You just need to meditate, breathe, move, and eat plants! Do the world a favor and help everyone you meet uncover this simple truth by wearing this racerback tank that comes straight from the heart and soul of The MAPS Institute. This racerback tank is soft, lightweight, and form-fitting with a flattering cut and raw edge seams for an edgy touch.

Taza Vetiver “Abhyanga” Loofah: Handmade in India using ancient weaving techniques, and procured through fair trade, this luxurious and lymph-friendly tool is perfect for hydrating and nourishing dry skin, while simultaneously increasing circulation and exfoliating dead cells from skin. The founders of Taza, Amy and Divya, are local to NYC here, and great humans!
